  2. Sip your morning coffee from your "Still Black Still Proud" mug
  3. Put your blockers on, and enjoy the read.

2. Class is in Session.

At Art is Bond we celebrate all things black, so you should already know this includes HBCUS.

An HBCU is a Historically Black College or University that was established primarily to educate Black Americans before the Civil Rights Act of 1964, when segregation prevented Black students from attending many predominantly white institutions. There are 107 H.B.C.U.s, and the founder of Art is Bond is a graduate of the best one ever, Hampton University., founded in 1868.

So sit-down and pose for the camera, because class is in session!

The Photo Opp:

  1. Take a seat at the desk
  2. Place your HBCU jacket over your shoulder
  3. Put on your Hillman Hat
  4. And Give “you understood the assignment” for the camera

3. Embellished in Roses.

"I was made for the library, not the classroom. The classroom was a jail of other people's interests. The library was open, unending, free". Ta-Nehisi Coates

Featuring over 50 dynamic and life-changing books by inspiring Black authors, and  embellished in roses, our book wall is an OG at Art is Bond.  It is in fact one of our favorite tributes to our fave literary giants from Morrison to Angelou to Coates to Shakur and so many more.

4. Jeweled  by Jerell Gantt - (@imitationbyjerell)

This timeless piece is a show stopper in the space, and we cant wait for you to experience why.

5. In the Garden...

Within this installation, we wanted to surround you with two of our favorite things—flowers and art— all while creating an opportunity to remind you that you in fact are the art.

The Photo Opp:
  1. Enter the Garden, and finish the masterpiece...Pick up the brush, stand before the canvas, and pose as if you are painting the portrait  of the beautiful black woman on the canvas. Yet, she is you.

6. Is it Good to You??

Okay, so remember the scene from Juice when Omar Epps, Tupac, Jermaine Hopkins and Khalil Kain enter the Record Store, and Is it Good to You Remix featuring Tammy Lucas is Playing?!?? I mean... can we name a more '90s scene? That scene was the inspo behind our "Records" wall. The wall is furnished with hundreds of stickers and "easter eggs" inviting you into the decades behind the record store eras.

The Photo Opp:
  1. Grab your '90s magazine or Favorite Grown Folks record and pose for the camera as the nostalgia brings you ALL the Joy you deserve.

7. We Play All Day

& Do!! Grab a prop from the We Play All Day Install while you flick it up throughout the space.

8. Fairy lights and Art is Bond Memories

10. Scramble Wall

Soul Train was a staple in the black house hold for decades, so we decided to relish this history by paying homage to the iconic Scramble Board.
  • Photo Opp: The first guest to create a message Congratulating the Guest of Honor on the scramble board will be gifted an Art is Bond tote or candle from our Art is Bond Merch Section.

11. Nina Simone Quote

"To me, we are the most beautiful creatures in the whole world, Black people, and I mean that in every sense" Nina Simone

12. For the Women Who Prayed for Us

Our grandmothers prayers are still covering us to this day, just as their Sunday church hats continue to serve and plate to this day. I heard a quote that said "The best fashion you can get is watching black women going to church on Sunday. " Miss Jay Alexander.  Can we get an Amen???

  • Photo Opp: Grab your hat from the "For the women who prayed for us" wall and SERVE a lewk on our 3D Black wall.

13. Reflections x Masterpiece

"Reflections” by Domonique Brown (@domothecreative) is presented against a backdrop featuring the lyrics from Masterpiece (Mona Lisa) by Jazmine Sullivan.

We invite you to listen to Masterpiece by Jazmine Sullivan and hope it becomes a soundtrack to your life, just as it has to ours.

14. We come as one, but stand as 10,000

One of our favorite Maya Angelou quotes is “I come as one, but I stand as 10,000” which serves as a reminder that although we move through the world as individuals, we carry the strength, wisdom, and legacy of the many ancestors who came before us.

For this installation, we inscribed the quote onto the mirror as a reflection of that truth.

Photo Moment:
Take a seat.
Make a call on the rotary phone.
Sip from the Still Black Still Proud mug.
Smell the flowers from the Art is Bond Flower Candle.
Flip through the coffee table book.

Make yourself at home at Art is Bond.

15. Queen Bee and Michelle Obama by Heather Perry

16. In a '90s kind of world

Okay, so cue brandy while you're sitting up in your room that arguably captures the best decade, musically to date; the '90s, and trust, we did not miss a beat with the trinkets. From old beepers to answering machines to light up landline phones to boom boxes.  It's an Art is Bond Fave for sure.

17. Old School Wicker Chairs and Black Like...

18. Book Stack , and Letters desk.

Take a moment to write a letter to the guest of honor—or to your younger self.

You can leave your letter in the desk for the next Art is Bond attendee to discover as a piece of shared wisdom, or take it with you as a personal keepsake. Oh, and Who doesn't love a book stack?

19. Lauryn Hill by Chuck Styles &. 20.  Flower Guy by Jasmine Jackson

21. and 22. An Ode to Love

A visual dialogue between young love and enduring love. On one side, a beautiful young Black couple captures the excitement and promise of new love (All about Love by Artpce). In contrast, a striking portrait of Barack and Michelle Obama by Chuck Styles represents a more mature love—one shaped by time, partnership, and shared legacy.

23. We love a good living room photo moment at Art is Bond
